The docks are in - Spring season officially begins!

Today the team came together for our annual Spring work day. Without a cloud in the sky and with temperatures in the 80s, the crew make quick work of the arduous process of putting the docks in the water. All-in-all it was a pretty uneventful day, which is a good thing considering the size and weight of the docks. Read more for some entertaining photos of the process.
Sailors begrudgingly boarded their respective flights back to Middlebury after a fantastic week of practice and team bonding. The weather could not have been nicer and the trip went off without a hitch thanks to Zach Karst's planning. Highlights of the week included the "Cali Cup" (our impromptu regatta), Jamie Conkling and Emily Nunez's amazing cooking, late night card games, a visit to Phil's house and the incredible coaching. In what has seemingly become an annual tradition, Middlebury sailors arrived in San Diego on Sunday for spring training. Once again, the group is staying at the DeGolia's beautiful seaside house in Oceanside, CA (just 40 minutes north of San Diego).We are incredibly lucky to have Chandler Koglmeier ('09) returning as our coach for the week, during which we will be holding daily practices at the San Diego Yacht Club (SDYC). Every year Midd sailors eagerly anticipate the thawing of Lake Dunmore; as Spring approaches we check every weekend to see if it's time to put in the docks. Sailor Tom Brant ('10) was lucky enough to capture this photo of Lake Dunmore from the air (Dunmore Acres and our docks can be seen slightly off-center in the image).
The MCSC welcomed new Febs and sailors at the biannual club fair. With our prime location along the bleachers, our catchy poster and mobile tactics we were able to find over twenty potential Rec & Race sailors! In the usual chaotic spirit of the club fair it was all about location and the amount and kind of candy each club could provide.
